Montessori-Based Activities for People with Dementia

Montessori-based activities take a rehabilitation approach to the treatment of dementia. It is imperative to provide people with Alzheimer’s Disease or other forms of dementia with tasks that enable them to maintain or improve skills needed in their daily lives. These include self-feeding, preparing simple meals, dressing, and participating in recreational activities.

Montessori activities are designed to ensure success, and can be conducted by a home health professional, or with training, a family caregiver. The activities make use of materials that one has on-hand.
